:(1993) Pope John Paul II made a pilgrimage to Namugongo and on that occasion elevated the Uganda Martyrs’ Shrine to the level of a “Minor Basilica Church”.

Leon Livinhac, Ludovic Girault, Leon Barbot, Simeon Lourdel (Mapeera) and Bro. Amans Delmas, from Lubaga and buried in the Memorial Chapel at Mapeera-Nabulagala Parish.
: (1879) Mapeera and Amans settled in their first house at Lubya-Nabulagala. Opening of the first Mission post in Uganda.

: (1891) For the first time, missionaries were sent outside the capital Kampala to start a new mission post in Buddu. These were Fr. Henri Streicher, Fr. Jean Gacon and Bro. Victor Claes Louis. They left from Nabunnya Mission post and settled in their first mission post, at Kiwaala, in Buddu on the 19th March 1891. : (1881) Muteesa I left Lubaga Palace because of the plague (Kawumpuli) and installed himself in Kasubi-Nabulagala Palace where he stayed up to his death in October 1884.
: (1891) Frs. Alphonse Brard and Louis Schmier were sent from Nabunnya to a mission post in Busoga.
: (2013) Card. Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis, the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 17, 1936. : (1885) Fr. Simeon Lourdel, together with Fr. Pierre Giraud, left Bukune Mission (Our Lady of Djiwe la Singa) in Tanganyika (between Mwanza and Tabora), in view of returning to Buganda where he arrived, together with Bro. Amans and Fr. Pierre Giraud in July 1885 and settled at Nalukolongo. After their departure from Bukune, the mission, which Mapeera had started in April 1884, was closed.
: (1882) First baptisms of the Protestants in Uganda. It was at Nateete and these were: Mackay Sembera Kamumbe, Filipo Mukasa, Edward Mukasa, Yakobo Buzaabalyawo, Yakobo Takirambudde, Princess Nalumansi Kalaala, Princess Lakeri Namikka (daughter of Ssuuna II). NB: Buzaabalyawo later became Catholic (15th November 1885) and martyr. Kalaala (daughter of Muteesa I) also became Catholic (27th April 1886).

: (1880) First Catholic Baptisms in Uganda. These were: Paul Nalubandwa, Peter Kyonooneka Ddamulira, Joseph Lwanga and Leo Kaddu. It was on Holy Saturday during Easter Vigil celebrations. They were baptized at Nabulagala by Fr. Leon Livinhac, superior of the Community. In a way, this is the birth-day of the Catholic Church in Uganda.
