(1876) Departure from England of the first group of 8 Protestant Missionaries of the C.M.S. destined for Uganda. Two of them, Shergold-Smith and C. T. Wilson arrived in Uganda on the 26th June 1877 and were given land in Nateete where they built their first mission.

(1890) Death of Fr. Chantemerle Jules at Bugoma (Ssese Islands). He was the first missionary priest to die in this country at the age of 33 years. He died of hepatitis. His remains were later on transferred to Bumangi Parish cemetery.

1878) Departure from Algiers of the first group of ten Missionaries for East Africa. 5 for Tanganyika and 5 for Uganda. - Mapeera-Nabulagala Parish: Monthly Mass to pray for the cause of the beatification of Mapeera and Amans at 6.00pm. - Namugongo Martyrs Shrine: 5.00pm Talk on Mapeera + Amans + Uganda Martyrs. Followed by the Holy Mass at 6.00pm. (NB: This spiritual exercise will be conducted monthly here at Namugongo on this date of the 17th dedicated to pray for the cause of the Beatification of Mapeera and Amans.)

26th Anniversary of the death of Emmanuel Cardinal K. Nsubuga, a great devotee to the pioneer missionaries, especially Mapeera. He died in Germany and was buried at Nalukolongo Bakateyamba Home on the 29th April 1991.
